You will use a standard formal
business document format for all assignments (Arial 12 font with 1.5 line
spacing, 1 inch staggered margins) and put the names of only those departmental
members who contributed to the assignment at the bottom of the page. Complaint/Response
Letter Preparation Phases:
Complaint
Phase – In an online brain storming
session, discuss with your group a complaint that would come to your
department. The format of the complaint
will range from angry ALL CAP emails to formal letters (perhaps even
humorous!), and everything in between. The key is that someone is angry enough
about something we did (or did not do) to write us. It is your job is to
placate them so that the problem doesn’t
escalate. Response
Phase – After creating the complaint,
discuss, draft and write an appropriate departmental response. The content of the letter must be a direct
and formal response to the complaint at hand. Final
Preparation Phase – This phase will require solid
teamwork and a clear distribution of tasks (e.g. proofreaders, compiler, etc.).
How you divvy up the tasks is up to your groups. But keep in mind that this is a team graded
assignment, and so the better you cooperate as a productive unit, the higher
your overall score will be.
